Shark Egg Spiral Butt Plug

Shark Egg is a spiral butt plug cast in platinum-cured silicone: the S is 12.8 cm (5.0 in) long, 17.5 cm (6.9 in) around at its widest, and light at 141 g (5.0 oz). The body is a cone with one thin lip wound around it from tip to base in three turns, each turn wider than the last. Put a thumb on the lip and it folds. Let go and it stands back up. Turn the plug a little as it goes in and the lip does the walking for you.

The shape comes from a shark egg case, the corkscrew kind. We kept the cone and the winding lip and dropped the rest. The base is a pair of wings, one longer than the other, so it lies against you instead of standing off you.

A spiral anal plug: a narrow tip, a thin lip wound around a cone in three turns, widest through the middle, then a neck above a winged flared base. The tip slips in with almost no push, and each turn of the lip opens you a little wider than the one before while the groove behind it lets you close again, so the stretch arrives in steps. Seated, the lip presses back each time you clench. It suits a first plug in the S as well as anyone who already takes a wide plug and wants one that moves. Three sizes, from 12.8 cm (5.0 in) total length and 17.5 cm (6.9 in) around at the widest to 19.3 cm (7.6 in) and 25 cm (9.8 in).

Narrow, and the first turn of the lip starts almost at once. On the S the tip is 7.5 cm (3.0 in) around, about the size of a thumb, and even the L starts at 10 cm (3.9 in), so the first centimetre goes in before you have decided anything. The first turn is the smallest of the three, and the one you notice most, because nothing has opened yet.

Three of them, each wider than the last, out to 22 cm (8.7 in) around on the M. The lip is thin enough to fold under your thumb like the rim of a silicone muffin cup, so it does not pop through as one hard step. It bends, slides, and stands up again on the far side. Give the plug a quarter turn as you push and it winds itself in. The groove between turns is where you close; the next turn is where you open again. Slow, you can count to three. Fast, it is one long twist. We think the twist is the whole point.

Two wings, one longer than the other, spread flat from a neck much narrower than the middle above it: on the L the neck runs 14 cm (5.5 in) around against 25 cm (9.8 in) at the widest. That is the flared base, and the neck is what your body closes on, so once the widest turn is through, the plug stays put. The uneven wings are shaped to follow your body rather than sit flat across it. Sit down and it lies close. Stand up and you know it is there.
