Butt plug training, as we see it from the drawing board, is about the step between two sizes, not about how big the top size is. Across five plug lines we make, the widest point runs from 10 cm (3.9 in) around on the Wave Fantasy S to 36.5 cm (14.4 in) around on the Mirror XL, and the steps between neighbouring sizes are not all the same.
Every figure below is the maximum circumference from our size sheets, measured with a tape. Where we give a width across, it is that circumference divided by π, so treat it as a conversion and not a caliper reading. How far in, how deep, and when to stop belong to our depth guide. This post is only about width.
Why butt plug training lives in the step
The muscle you are working with is a ring. A ring does not care what number is printed on the box. It cares how much further around it has to go than it went last time.
That is why we read a size ladder sideways. Going from 23 cm to 31 cm around means the ring takes about 35 percent more than it did on the smaller size. Going from 15 cm to 19 cm is about 27 percent. Same direction, very different afternoon.
Someone on Reddit put the whole method in one line: "Keep it up till it's easy and you need to size up" (3 upvotes). We agree with every word of that, and we would add one thing. Before you size up, look at how big the next step actually is.
A graduated butt plug set is sold as a ladder. What you are really buying is the gaps between the rungs.
Every size in five plug lines, side by side
Here is the lineup, maximum circumference only, smallest size on the left. Empty cells are sizes that line does not come in. Milking Fruit II, the sixth piece in the plug collection, is a two-part build with its own sizing and stays out of this table.
| Line | XS | S | M | L | XL |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wave Fantasy | 10 cm / 3.9 in | 15 cm / 5.9 in | 18.2 cm / 7.2 in | ||
| Abyssal Depths | 12.8 cm / 5.0 in | 19 cm / 7.5 in | 25 cm / 9.8 in | ||
| Shark Egg | 17.5 cm / 6.9 in | 22 cm / 8.7 in | 25 cm / 9.8 in | ||
| Fissure | 15 cm / 5.9 in | 21 cm / 8.3 in | 26.2 cm / 10.3 in | 32.1 cm / 12.6 in | |
| Mirror | 15 cm / 5.9 in | 19 cm / 7.5 in | 23 cm / 9.1 in | 31 cm / 12.2 in | 36.5 cm / 14.4 in |
Now divide each size by the one before it. Shark Egg climbs gently: M is about 1.26 times S around, and L only 1.14 times M. Fissure goes 1.40, then 1.25, then 1.23. Wave Fantasy opens with the biggest proportional step on the whole sheet, S to M at 1.5 times, then settles to about 1.21.
Small numbers hide big proportions. Ten centimetres to fifteen sounds like nothing until you notice it is half again.
The number is also not the whole story, because the lines reach their widest point in different ways. Wave Fantasy builds gradually, so the fullness keeps growing instead of arriving in one jump. Shark Egg widens layer by layer, with a dip between each wave. Fissure has no long slope at all: past the narrow tip it goes almost straight to full width. Two plugs with the same circumference can make the same stretch feel quite different. If we had to guess which one catches people out, it would be the fast one.
The uneven one: Mirror, M to L
Mirror is the longest ladder we make: five sizes, four steps. XS to S is about 1.27 times around. S to M, about 1.21. L to XL, about 1.18. Then M to L is about 1.35.
In plain width, the Mirror M works out to about 7.32 cm across and the L to about 9.87 cm. In absolute terms that is the largest single jump in the table.
We would like to tell you why the L landed at 31 cm. We can't. The reasoning behind Mirror's size steps was never written down, and we are not going to invent a story after the fact.
What we can tell you is how we would use it. If M has become easy, treat L as two steps rather than one, and borrow the middle step from another line.
Filling a gap with a different line
Because the lines were sized separately, their numbers overlap in useful places. That overlap is what an anal stretching plan built from our range would actually use.
Between Mirror M at 23 cm and L at 31 cm, three pieces sit in the gap: the Shark Egg L and the Abyssal Depths M at 25 cm, and the Fissure M at 26.2 cm. Going 23 to 26.2 is about 1.14 times around, and 26.2 to 31 is about 1.18. The big step becomes two ordinary ones.
The same trick works at the small end. The Wave Fantasy S to M step, the 1.5 one, has the Abyssal Depths XS sitting inside it at 12.8 cm. Abyssal Depths is listed as a beaded dildo, two rounded sections with a wide flat base, and at that size it does the job of a middle rung.
One caution, and it follows from the shapes. Switching lines changes how the width arrives, not just the number. Fissure M is short and reaches its full 26.2 cm quickly. Shark Egg L gets to 25 cm a wave at a time. If you borrow a rung from another line, expect the first try to feel like a new toy, because it is one.
A tangent we noticed while building the table: Mirror XS, Wave Fantasy M and Fissure XS all come out at exactly 15 cm around. Our notes don't say whether that was planned. It is handy either way, because it gives you three different shapes at one width before you go anywhere bigger.
Every piece here ends in a base you can hold: flat on Wave Fantasy and Abyssal Depths, winged on Shark Egg, flared on Fissure, and shaped on Mirror. The whole range is on the anal plug collection, and the size guide explains how each number is measured. If it is a dildo you are sizing up rather than a plug, the first step from XS to S is covered in a separate post.
Past 30 cm around (NSFW)
Three sizes in the table go past 30 cm: Mirror L at 31 cm, Fissure L at 32.1 cm, and Mirror XL at 36.5 cm (14.4 in) around, which works out to about 11.62 cm across. Nothing in the table sits between Fissure M at 26.2 cm and Mirror L. That is the widest open gap left on the sheet.
We read the size-queen threads too. A post called "Working my way up to the bigger toys!" sits at 3,180 upvotes, and further down someone writes that they "haven't worked up to half of that size yet" (2 upvotes). Working up is the culture. We like that.
People also search for an anal training schedule, and we get why. We still won't write one. The step table above is the part we can stand behind, and the clock belongs to your body, not to a blog. When to stop, and the signals that mean stop now, are in the depth guide.
Questions we get
What is a graduated butt plug set?
The same shape made in several sizes, so each one is a little wider than the last. Our plug lines come in three to five sizes. Before buying the next one, divide its circumference by the one you have now. That ratio tells you more than the size letter.
Which size should I start with?
Start from what you already take comfortably, then look at the next step up. The smallest size in the table above is the Wave Fantasy S at 10 cm (3.9 in) around, about 3.18 cm (1.25 in) across.
How long does butt plug training take?
We don't give timelines. Bodies differ, and so do days. Size up when the current size has become easy, and read the depth guide for the stop signals.
Why do you list circumference instead of diameter?
Circumference is what we measure, with a tape, at the widest point. The diameter figures are that number divided by π. Both are on each product page and in the size guide.
